...And True Love waits...

I'll drown my beliefs
To have you be in peace
I'll dress like your niece
To wash your swollen feet

Just don't leave,
don't leave

And true love waits
In haunted attics
And true love wins
On lollipops and crisps

Just don't leave,
don't leave

I'm not living
I'm just killing time
Your tiny hands
Your crazy kiss and smile

Just lonely, lonely..Just lonely, lonely..

Beautiful song by Radiohead. Kinda says how I'm feeling. Dedicated to...I'm sure you can all guess. Love you Kate.
PS. Julia, quase aprendi todas as letras! Mas ainda vou chorar a musica porque fica tão bonitinha do meu jeito...

So you think you got big cojones!

"I am your secretary!"

Well, seeing as I've covered a whole range of stuff in this blog, I thought it was about time I got into the business of film critique. And what luck, this past weekend I had the opportunity of watching 2 rather interesting (read with an unsure and questioning tone) movies. Both being movies of taste ie if they are not your taste, you won't enjoy them. And that is not as obvious a statement as one would think. So here goes...

Dawn of the Dead.
Well, do the words "trashy 70s zombie horror blood and gore flick" come to mind. Well it's exactly that. And that is why we appreciate this film. The second in the Living Dead trilogy became a standard in zombie flix, emphasising the importance of lots of blood and guts. After all, is there any other reason we go to see such movies? A fan of the genre, I enjoyed the movie although I felt it lacked a certain je ne sais quoi and after the first few scenes of heads exploding and limbs being ripped off, the movie becomes monotonous and attempts to be comedic but ends up rather silly. But being an important stepping stone in modern culture, The Cheese says LOOK FOR IT! Nice way to pass a stormy night with your other half. And do not watch alone! You need someone to laugh with.

OK. Weird movie. Interesting. Masochist finds work as the secretary of a sadist trying to get his life under control. Thus begins the strange and tumultuous relationship between them around which the movie is focused. Because Secretary tells the story of irrational and atypical love, it doesn't necessarily follow rational patterns of thought and at points can be downright weird. But the beauty of this film lies in its surreality and in the complexity of its characters. Don't look to understand the film. Like real people, the characters don't always act oir think in ways that can be understood. The movie is nothing more than an insight into a different world where the definitions of what is acceptable and what is not are blurred. I recommend this movie. Though it is not for all people, it does provide a good 2 hours of entertainment and brainwork too. Plus, Donnie Darko's sister is reason enough to watch... Posted by Hello
